HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (Previously Senior First Aid)

The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course we deliver includes HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support and HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course  is highly practical and focused on developing skills you can put into practice in real emergency scenarios. This HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course applies to individuals who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. This HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course is sometimes referred to as Apply First Aid, Senior First Aid or Level II First Aid. Course Durations

Training and theory assessment may be completed either in a classroom environment or online.

 

Consideration is given to previous skills, knowledge and experience for students refreshing an existing or equivalent certificate.

 

Timings below are approximate and will vary depending on the number of students and experience.

Online Training 

 

Detailed e-Learning (5 hrs) + Face to Face assessment (2 hrs refresher | 3 hours new)

Classroom Training

 

Face to Face training and assessment (7 hours + 1 hr online workbook for new students)

 

Training and assessment can be adjusted to account for specific workplace requirements and the existing skills and knowledge of the students.

Entry Requirements

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.

Pre-course study:   Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face assessment depending on the course delivery mode.

​

Online study:  Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

Assessment Requirements

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

Certificate Renewal Requirements

Certificates will require renewal after 36 months.

Assessment Activities

Performance tasks and Practical scenarios:  â€‹

  • Perform CPR on an adult  (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)

  • Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario

  • Perform CPR on an infant

  • Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis

  • Manage a casualty with asthma

  • Manage a choking casualty

  • Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning

  • Manage a casualty with a nosebleed

  • Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation

  • Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain

  • Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)

Theory assessment – consisting of multiple-choice questions.

If you have participants who prefer not to use digital media for the eLearning and/or you need the theory component completed in a supported learning environment this course type is the best option.
I believe in setting participants up for success in the hope the information will be retained when needed in a real time environment. The majority of participants in my full day face to face courses achieve over 90% in their first attempt at the theory questions.
